Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation

The Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation (IGG) was founded in 2006 by merging formerly independent geodetic chairs and institutes. These represent the entire current spectrum of geodesy and are based at five different buildings on the Campus Poppelsdorf.

The teaching staff consists of seven professorships (Astronomical, Physical and Mathematical Geodesy, Geodesy, Geoinformation, Information Management, Photogrammetry, Urban Development and Land-use Planning, Data Science for Crop Systems, Space Geodetic Techniques) and one junior professorship (Earth System Reserch).

The study programs  "Geodesy und Geoinformation (B.Sc./M.Sc.)" and "Geodetic Engineering (M.Sc., engl.)" are two of the few engineering courses that can be studied at the University of Bonn.

The institute is part of the Faculty of Agriculture and a partner of the Faculty of Agriculture and member of the Geoverbund ABC/J (cooperation between the University of Aachen [A], Bonn [B], Cologne [C] and Forschungszentrum Jülich [J])

The current director is Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kusche (WG Astronomical, Physical und Mathematical Geodesy).
