Mobile Sensing
The Working Group Mobile Sensing at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation focuses on the development of mobile sensing systems that turn UAVs, robots, and vehicles into high-precision measurement platforms. By navigating through the environment, our systems are able to perform complex environmental monitoring and phenotyping tasks. We specialize in the full integration of cameras, laser scanners, and spectral sensors, as well as GNSS and inertial sensors with a rigorous focus on
- System Calibration & Trajectory Estimation to ensure spatial accuracy in motion.
- Quality Analysis to validate the reliability of mobile-acquired data.
- Information Extraction to derive application-specific data and quantify uncertainty.
- Applied Monitoring of both built and natural environments.
As part of the Cluster of Excellence PhenoRob and the Robotics Institute Germany (RIG), we bridge the gap between advanced robotics and sustainable agriculture. Our mission is to provide the high-resolution data needed to understand and manage our world more effectively.
