DFG decided to establish a new collaborative research centre (SFB1502) at Uni Bonn, with the focus on understanding the role of land use in regional climate change. IGG groups will developing new ways of integrating GRACE/-FO data in coupled ESMs, analyzing radar altimetry, SWOT cal/val, integrating ocean data and models, new deep learing techniques for remote sensing, and developing innovative RDM infrastructure. Our retired colleague and former chair of the group, Prof. Karl Heinz Ilk, published a wonderful, modern textbook on physical geodesy, satellite geodesy, reference systems in geodesy (Grundlagen der Physikalischen und Mathematischen Geodäsie, 6 volumes, in German, Springer). (19.11.21).

Jointly with the IGG Geoinformation group, a new approach for reconstructing past sea levels from tide gauge records has been developed. The new method utilizes satellite altimetry to determine a minimum-error triangulation of the ocean in a supervised learning phase (28.08.21).

The public version of the TUDaBo SAR-RDSAR Processor is now available via ESA's G-POD (Grid-Processing On Demand) Service. TUDaBo (Technical University Darmstadt – University Bonn SAR-Reduced SAR) is a web platform that provides the capability to process on line and on demand Cryosat-2 and Sentinel-3A SAR mode Full Bit Rate (FBR or L1A) data to Level-1B and Level-2 geophysical data products.
